Producer Member

Definition: Any individual, partnership or corporation engaged in the production and/or sale of wood crossties. Dues Structure:(U.S. or Global)

Producing Sawmill One cent per tie*
Purchaser of White Tie One-half cent per tie
Treater (after Treatment) One-half cent per tie
TOTAL Two cents per tie

Minimum Annual Dues for Any Producer Member: $425.00

Notes: If a Tie-Producing Sawmill does not participate, then it shall be the responsibility of the Purchaser of the white tie to contribute for that sawmill's production. This dues schedule became effective January 1, 1991, and dues are payable monthly based on the previous month's activity. Producer members are the only members with voting privileges. VOTES: Each dues paying producer member shall have one vote. In addition, each producer member shall have one additional vote for every $100 in dues paid above the first $100 during the current calendar year. The Association shall take all reasonable steps to ensure the confidentiality of each member's production. The Executive Director shall be responsible for determining the accurate number of votes for each producer member.


Preservative Supplier Member

Definition: Any individual or organization engaged in the manufacture or sale of preservatives used in the treatment of wood crossties.

Dues Structure: Dues are dependent on volume of preservative supplied.

0-4.5 million gallons per year: Annual dues $2,500

4.5-10 million gallons per year: Annual dues $4,500

10 million gallons or more a year: Annual dues $12,500



Non-Preservative Supplier Member

Definition: Any individual or organization engaged in the manufacture or sale of material, equipment, or supplies required in handling, processing, or use of wood crossties.

Dues Structure: Annual Dues: $595, with application.



Contractor Member

Definition: Any individual, partnership, or corporation engaged in the building and/or maintenance of railroad tracks, or in providing engineering and/or consulting services related to railroad trackage or such services to companies engaged in production, treatment, processing, or usage of wood crossties.

Dues Structure: Annual Dues: $195, with application.



Recycling Management Member

Definition: Any individual or organization engaged in rehabilitation, recycling, or other activities related to the reuse or disposal of treated wood crossties.

Dues Structure: Annual Dues: $195, with application.



Timberland Owner Member

Definition: Any individual or organization owning timberland who may or may not sell stumpage or logs for the manufacture of crossties, but who is not otherwise engaged in the crosstie business.

Dues Structure: Annual Dues: $195, with application.



Associate Member

Definition: Any person directly or indirectly interested in the purchase, manufacture, or use of wood crossties, who does not qualify under any other membership category. This category is specifically intended to include members of railroad companies, staff and faculty of educational institutions, researchers, and members of related trade associations within the United States and Canada.

Dues Structure: Annual Dues: $75, with application.



Global Associate Member

Definition: Any person directly or indirectly interested in the purchase, manufacture, or use of wood crossties, who does not qualify under any other membership category. This category is specifically intended to include members of railroad companies, staff and faculty of educational institutions, researchers, and members of related trade associations outside of the United States or Canada.

Dues Structure: Annual Dues: $195, with application (includes $100 mailing fee).



Honorary Member

Definition: Any person nominated and approved by the RTA Executive Committee.

Dues Structure: No Dues.
